Light it Up!

Believe it or not, there is a right way to burn a candle. I know! This was news to me, but since I have started burning my candles correctly they last longer and burn more evenly. I thought I would share the wealth with you and give you a quick How To on burning your favorite candles. 

THE FIRST BURN

Picture it, you're on your way home from HEYDAY, or maybe you just got the delivery notification, however you shop, your candle has arrived, and you are ready for your home to smell fantastic. First thing you want to do is trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. Then, make sure that you are giving your candle enough time to burn: 1 hour for every inch across. If your candle is 2 inches across it will need 2 hours for the first burn. You can always look up your candle online to see the manufacturer recommended burn times if you're unsure. 

THE REST OF YOUR CANDLE'S LIFE

Every time you light your candle make sure that you trim the wick down to 1/4 inch. This will help you avoid a tall flame, or a mushroom wick that will cause unwanted flame flickering, smoking and uneven burning.
